WELCOME TO GRANDMA CAMP!

We started out camp with making and playing with playdough and popsciles.
Everyone got to pick their own color and flavor.
I think it was the first time some had used cookie cutters, but maybe not. They all enjoyed making different shapes.

We moved the activity to the table.

Next, we did some music shakers. We cut out pictures, glued them to a paper plate, folded them in
half and put in the sound.(rice, beans, macaroni) and
voila!! MUSIC!!!

After that we took a break and had snack-apples, bananas and water.

 Then, back to camp...

                                  ...with Ring on a string.

Lunch time, Hailee was
our waitress.  We had
peanut butter and honey or
peanut butter and jam sandwiches.
Grapes and milk to drink, and good conversation.

Then we took a break and some of us had a nap, some watched T.V. Then we resumed camp with writing letters to Stephen and painting T-shirts. Everyone picked the color they wanted to use and there were several stencils to pick from. Sydney did insects. Hailee did a dog and doghouse and dog bone. Spencer did a dog and a bone. Alyssa did a dog and bone. Each sign their work of art. sorry we forgot to take pictures:(
After T-shirts, we had our popsciles, yummy!!!!!! and a little sticky.

Later that same day we(everyone) played outside on the slip'n slide, the play/swing set. We, Kellee, Alyssa and Sydney, also did chalk time.

For dinner we had corndogs and mac and cheese.

During dinner we were serenaded with the Beach Boys song of Kokomo, I am not sure what Sydney thought of all of it, but I thought
It was delightful!!!

After dinner we settled down for a night at the movies. After some discussion and much thought, we were entertained with Toy Story III.
Kellee "slept" with the girls on the downstairs bed.Sdyney ended up sideways, kellee was at the foot of the bed, Alyssa also ended up sideways. (I wish I had known and would also have taken a pic of that. Spencer split up his sleep time in two different beds.

DAY TWO
The next morning we had breakfast. Then went downstairs for music time with our shakers and other instruments. We marched and did follow the leader.

We then got ready...put out paper, got our paint shirts on and...
 painted

and painted

 BIRDHOUSES

While the projects dried we made sugar cookies. Spencer and Hailee made some power rangers. there was also a ramdom assortment made. While the cookies were baking and cooling we watched Peter Pan.
We also had the popcorn that we didn't have last night.

I hope everyone had fun. that includes the moms. I hope they didn't miss the kids too much and will bring them back again for another camp.

I would like to do one for the Brienholts and the Motts. We just need to schedule those.

TODAY IS THE DAY!
I have wanted (needed) to clean out and reorganize the pantry for quite some time. So after cleaning out the linen closet and the cedar chest downstairs, Kellee and I
attacked the pantry. The first pictures are the before, and the last three are the after pictures of the wonderfulness!

Sorry there are no pictures of the before of the closets, but then again you all know what they looked like.

Draft

I just noticed that some of you have drafts that have not been published. Let's get those finished up and posted shall we? Do I miss being in school? Yes, maybe just a little. Does Sydney get her bossiness from me? Yes she does.

Thank you Stephanie!

I would like to thank Stephanie for updating her blog so that I had something interesting to read. Her family has been having some fun! I know that all the rest of you have been too and I know I am not the only one who'd like to hear about it. I think a little writing assignment is in order (even though it is summer and you are not my 5th graders). I will leave the topic and length up to you, but I think everyone in the family should contribute a little something, whaddaya say?
Last night I was out mowing the lawn when I happened to look down into the window well to see a little baby bunny. It was very cute and I could tell from it's large ears and feet that it was a jack rabbit and not someone's pet. I called to Andy and Sydney and told them to come out and have a look. Andy brought a bucket to help the little guy out of the window well and we set him free in our front yard. After I finished in the backyard I went to check on him and he had moved up against the concrete by the front porch. This morning Andy sent me a text letting me know that "the rabbit died" (nope, not pregnant). I asked if he'd been killed and he said no. I went out to look and he is just laying stretched out under the maple tree. Sad, huh?
On a brighter note! My friends that I have taught 5th grade with are back in town this month and I have been so happy to see them. Abby Camberlango was here visiting from Nauvoo and Alicia Comeau was here visiting from Oregon City. We all had babies the same year so it has been fun to catch up with them and see their cute kids.
Speaking of cute kids. . . Sydney asked me to go find her ipad (she calls her little leapster an ipad) and I asked "Are you being bossy?" She said "No, I'm Sydney"
She is getting pretty good at a lot of things. She can almost spell her whole name. We've got it on video and I show everyone who will listen. She says S-Y-D-N-Y, SYDNEY!
GOOD READS! I just finished reading A Crooked Kind of Perfect and The Great Turkey Walk (I'm pretty sure those are the titles. Both are geared for 5th and 6th graders, but I loved them, so if you are looking for a quick, light, funny read give either of those a try.

Weekend in Star!

I'm cursing myself for not taking pictures, but seriously, we had the best weekend last weekend. Last Thursday night, Jeremy, Kellee, and I drove up to see the Breinholts at their new house in Star. It was such a great weekend. It all started the week before when Ben called me wanting me to come over and play Lego Batman with him. I said, "Ben, it takes six hours to get up there!" To which he replied,"I don't care how long it takes. I'll wait!" Luckily, he didn't have to wait long because a week later we headed up there. We arrived at the Breinholts' just a few minutes after midnight and Ben ran out to greet us. It was so much fun. Friday, we had a little girl time and went shopping at a few places. Saturday, Mike and Becca took Jeremy and I out for Indian food to celebrate our anniversary. (Eleven years, y'all!) Sunday morning we left so we could get home in time for Kellee to catch a ride back to school. I can't even tell you how fun it was. Amren and Jeremy bonded, which was so fun to watch. And I'll always treasure the memory of Becca, Kellee, and I laughing in the kitchen at 2 o'clock in the morning. Or us four oldies sitting at the table in the restaurant with tears running down our faces because our food was so hot. Or waking up to a little voice saying, "Can we play Lego Batman?" I'm so glad we were able to go. It was the best weekend I've had in a long time. Thank you so much, Breinholts, for showing us such a good time!

this weekend

This weekend we have two birthday's to celebrate, Ethan who will be 10 and Emily who will be 12. I am excited for both of them. I think Emily is the most excited because of what she gets to do now, which is goto young women(s) She is soooo excited she has been counting down the days for at least a month. Ethan is excited for his day too. They are growing up so fast. I can't believe that time is flying by faster and faster every year. I hope my kids have a great birthday.
